Identilab offers NATA accredited paternity and maternity tests which can be used for legal purposes, such as in Family Law disputes (Custody, Child Support), and for changing birth certificates.
A paternity test determines whether or not a man is the true biological father of a child. Similarly, a maternity test determines whether a woman is the true biological mother of a child. Children inherit half their DNA from their mother and half from their father. To conduct a legally admissible parentage test, we compare the child’s genetic profile with that of the alleged father or mother, to determine how likely it is that the child inherited their DNA from them.
Samples must be collected by an appropriate medical professional, e.g. a GP, clinic nurse or pathology collector. (Please note that any charges for this collection are to be negotiated with the collector, and are not covered by Identilab testing fees.)
This legally admissible parentage kit contains testing for the known parent, the alleged parent and one child (additional children can be tested for $180 each).
It is often possible to perform parentage testing even when the alleged father or mother is deceased. Please contact us on 1300 114 294 or via our contact pageto discuss your specific situation.
